Sightseeing
Carlton Hill is at the end of our road and in my mind one of the most special places in Edinburgh, you climb the small hill and on top for minimal effort you have spectacular 350 degree views of Edinburgh, the Firth of Forth , Arthur’s seat , Holyrood palace, the Old and New Town princess St , the castle, literally Edinburgh seen in an hour! Carlton Hill also has a magic vibe, it has seen many mystical festivals some our annual . If feeling peckish there is a top restaurant called the glass house , as the name suggests it’s glass perched on a cliff it is expensive and probably better to book, there is also a kiosk owned by the restaurant selling high end sandwiches, pastries, coffee etc, I do find sometimes it is closed …

Just a stone throw away from the apartment is the largest seated theatre in the Uk, plays host to some of the biggest names in live music, comedy and musical theatre.

Again, the omni is around the corner heading towards princess st, large and comfy 12 huge screens surrounded by all the cinema essentials, bars, restaurants, sweets , popcorn and hot dogs .

It’s a wonderful , large and spacious building , a huge ground floor with galleries circling, bringing together Scotland’s antiques, culture and history .

This gem of a place is half an hour outside Edinburgh, it’s quirky interesting and a day trip or at least morning, so many statues, so many pieces of art you would never dream of, a wonderful wonder and wonder with surprises round every corner, great for all ages , take a picnic or dine in the magnificent cafe, a brilliant shop also for spectacular original fun goodies

However in front lies a magnificent sight, you can choose to walk a short distance to a loch, or maybe a ruin or climb to the top if you are feeling energetic, take a picnic or perhaps choose to walk to the Sheep’s Heid Edinburgh’s oldest pub in a little place called Duddingston .

Everyone loves the camera Obscura ! Great fun for all ages , an interactive camera obscura show as well as many other camera tricks to keep you entertained. It’s on the royal mile. At the end is the castle Edinburgh castle seeped in Scottish history.

Leith has been voted the 4 th coolest place in the world by time out magazine, my husband is very proud as he works there, we are both slightly doubtful it really is, however leith is a buzzing place at the end of leith Walk, the road 2 minutes from the apartment , it would have been a great walk with interesting people local shops and restaurants but the council have dug it up for trams. However you choose when you arrive a charming shore awaits you with wonderful pubs and restaurants, some Michelin ⭐️star bakeries 🧁 boats ,restaurants in barges an excellent vibe

Not many cities have their own real beach, yes Portobello a bus ride away is an old fashioned vintage beach with all the beach essentials, ice creams, hot dogs, slot machines, sea gulls and bucket and spades , lots of coffee and cakes too, a fresh walk along the sand or roller skate along the promenade.
