Great little town full of retail, cafes, bars and restaurants. If you are feeling fit, I highly recommend walking to the top of the Mount. Not really suited to kids under 5 but if you do have younger kids, a walk around the base of the mount is great!

Rotorua is around a 50 minute drive away. There is plenty sight seeing and activities to do over there. It has world class mountain biking tracks in the Red woods and Skyline. Also work a trip up the gondola which has zip lining, luge, great food and amazing views
