Great small local grocery store. Open until 10pm and walking distance. Remember to bring your bags we left in the apartment for you! SF charges 10 cents a bag at stores. Also serves prepared foods.

This is a huge grocery store that will have just about anything you need. Best of all, it's open 24 hours. That said, it's heavily protected and not the most pleasant shopping experience and if you don't come from an urban setting, you may not enjoy going to Safeway after dark.
