Cozy, comfortable, and easy-cheesy. The Cabin is the perfect remedy for the Friday-night blues, and the patio is the perfect nightcap to a day at the beach with the kids.

This charming café used to be a general store, and still may carry a few items - but go here for the excellent baked goods and a smashing BLT on your way down to Popham Beach.

The ultimate lobster shack experience. BYO wine and a tablecloth, or beer and shorts. Order your lobster (or burgers, or fried plates), and wait at picnic tables nestled at a tiny working waterfront. Finish with ice cream sold on-site.

You really can't get *IN* to BIW, but you also can't miss it. It's a landmark ship-building firm right on the Kennebec, where ocean-going naval vessels are built and sent out to sea. Ships have been built in this spot for hundreds of years! For the best views take the walking path up over the bridge and look down on the shipyard. Bath Built is Best Built.

Parks & Nature

Do not come to Bath without visiting Popham Beach. This massive expanse of sand is beautiful every month of the year, and the perfect spot to stroll along and let the wind and waves wash away your stress. Even when it's 'crowded' there's tons of room. Check the tides- at low tide it can be quite a hike out to the water. Bathrooms available in the summer. Swimming is an option though not really what we go for.

This interesting state park has it all - sandy beach, rocky shore line, and an odd lagoon that's warm and wave-less (and a little icky, but great for small kids).

We love this small preserve, part of the Kennebec Estuary Land Trust. A half-mile wide, accessible trail goes up to a small overlook on Merrymeeting Bay, or a variety of longer, more rugged trails circle the head of the peninsula. There's a fabulous set of stone stairs just over the edge of the view, but most folks miss them. You'll often see dogs off leash here (this is not an encouragement, but an FYI).

This is a relatively easy walk, to a glorious, wide open beach only accessible by foot. It’s just under 4 total miles (out and back), with no facilities. Plan to bring all your food, water, sunscreen, and come early to jockey for a space in the limited parking lot.
