The Blackdowns and beyond, country walks and muddy adventures!

The Blackdown Hills is an area of outstanding natural beauty renowned for beautiful country walks, old old forests and spectacular countryside. There is so much outdoors fun that that starts at the front door of the cottage that we had to make this section to showcase it all!
Mud mud mud!!!! 15 minutes from the house is the fantastic Bear Trail. Its a full size, family obstacle course with slides to slosh down, tyres to climb through, things to swing on and fall off and lots and lots of mud. We last went there with four adults and kids from 3-7 and we cant overstate how much fun everyone had from youngest to oldest! There are onsite showers, changing rooms and (most importantly?) and onsite pizzeria/coffee shop for re-energising afterwards! Its so nearby and so much fun its definitley worth building into your plans.

Branscombe beach is a picturesque pebbled beach 30 minutes from the cottage. It is a quite striking, little known jewel in the crown of the Jurassic Coast. It offers a beautiful, long, pebbled beach that stretched for a mile or so, it has a small river pool that offers a safe pool for very little ones to float in and is well enjoyed by families swimming in the summer. It easy to access from the parking and a cafe (offering coffee sanwiches and hot food) as well as a shop (for tourist essentials including ice cream!!).
