Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary.
A wonderful local attraction to cuddle a koala and interact with Kangaroo's. 20kms from Hawthorne, but well worth the visit. Boat cruise leaves from the CBD up the river to the Sanctuary making for a great day out. www.mirimar.com Adults $78 for cruise and entry into Lone Pine.

An excellent arts venue in Brisbane with wonderful bar, cafe and restaurant overlooking the river. From Hawthorne catch the citycat to New Farm (1 stop inbound), and the powerhouse is a short walk. Citycats run until midnight most nights.
Jan Power farmers markets are also on at the Powerhouse every Saturday from early until midday; you can get all local produce, baked goods and coffee every week.
