Food scene

Some of my favorite places to eat!
One of my favorite spots. Features indoor and outdoor courtyard common area with multiple local restaurants and a small Coop Grocery store. There is a fire pit and small kids playground outside. Lots of ethnic food choices as well as Salt City Coffee/Bar which I highly recommend. Great spot to study or work remotely. If parking is limited, park under the bridge across the street on Clinton St.

This restaurant started the foodie scene in Syracuse. The owner is credited for helping Syracuse develop the Armory Square area. Great food, great service. We love stopping here for lunch as the prices are great and you get the same portions! The bread is house made. Highlights: Hot tomato dipping oil and Vodka Sauce Penne! They also have a small outdoor courtyard weather permitting.

Pro tip: Ask to sit on the back patio. It’s beautifully designed and a small oasis in the hustling downtown. The York has one of the best burgers I’ve ever had.

A short trip to the iconic Tully’s famous for their chicken tenders and dips. A classic sports bar joint with all house made American fare. Each guest gets bottomless popcorn as an appetizer.

Sightseeing

A local favorite state park. Huge playground, easy hikes around the lake, great views. During the summer, this is a great beach spot with kid friendly shallow water. There are mountain bike trails as well.

Upper Onondaga Park is the most beautiful park in the City. In the winter we have Pind Hockey Tournaments! Learn more about them here: syracusepondhockeyclassic DOT com The park is a common location for wedding and graduate photography, due to the iconic weeping Willows, stone bridge and meandering trails. The street circling the park is closed off to cars in the summer. One loop is a mile, so it's a great location to jog or bike. The park features an iconic Gazeebo on an island. There is also a playground, a city pool and a splash pad. This park is walking distance from my airbnb properties.

Armory square is a 5 minute drive and features some of the best local restaurants as well as Starbucks. Check out Pastabilities for a modern Italian. Nick's Pizza is a great place to pick up a quick slice, Modern Malt is a great place as well and a new favorite is the York.

One of the BEST views of the city is at woodland reservoir. Around the reservoir is a a popular jogging trail that is exactly 1 mile per loop. A great spot for a picnic overlooking syracuse. You can see the Syracuse University Dome across town!

BBQ

Dinosaur put Syracuse on the tracking foodies map with it’s famous BBQ. Try the wings or Carolina pulled pork sandwich. Lots of great smoky flavors.

You’d think in a city with nationally recognized Dinosaur BBQ, restauranteurs would shy away from BBQ. However limp lizard holds its own! Great BBQ and a nice environment.

Sports

The iconic Dome! Home of the nationally recognized Syracuse University college football and basketball. Syracuse University also has one of the nations top Lacrosse teams. Fun fact, the fastest growing team sport of Lacrosse was born in the Syracuse area, invented by the Onondaga Nation First People.
