Lovely beach and woodland, with bike trails and walks. Great spot for picnic, with on-site bbq's too. Beach not as sheltered as Nelson's beach, but can be great for swimming.

Lovely scenic spot with stone-beach, and walking trail (the Cable Bay walkway runs to the Glen nearer Nelson). Can be windy.

There is a wonderful riverside path running from the city, passing nearby Queens Gardens and out into the Maitai Valley. Most sections are ideal for bikes too. Provides easy access to the countryside and there are a few great swimming spots for summer.
