Sightseeing and Food

Of course you should visit the Silos! Great shopping, food trucks, lawn games and more. It’s beautifully laid out. I especially love the garden area.

Sight Seeing and Food

This is one of my favorite places to take guests. It’s worth a trip just for the homemade ice cream. This is a humble community of families who create all kinds of handmade products. You vist their studio-shops as the create: woodworking, ceramics, textiles, blacksmithing, cheese, bread and much more. Their cafe serves an incredible breakfast and lunch and dinner. It’s not a bad idea to make a reservation. They get busy.

We always enjoy our time at the downtown farmers market. Every Saturday just in front of the old courthouse. Lots of great food vendors (especially Muchos Tacos and Waco Cha), produce and yummy treats. Typically wraps up around 1:00.

Hiking and Leisure

Cameron Park is a huge city park with miles of beautiful trails. One of Waco’s treasures set along the Bosque and Brazos Rivers. This place is so special to me. I’ve spent many hours exploring the many diverse trails here.

Food scene

Union hall is a grown-ups food court in many ways. Many delicious food stalls where there is a definite passion and love for what they create in every dish they serve. Sometimes we’ll grab food from a couple places and go eat at Sam’s Bar (great mixed drinks and atmosphere).

Revival is in one of the oldest areas of Waco and is still a bit up and coming. Known for great burgers and Salads using very fresh local ingredients. Definitely worth a visit.

This is one of my favorite places to get lunch in Waco, because it’s so good! Fresh, healthy-bowls of yummyness. Poke bowls are a Japanese cuisine. I always build my own bowl and top it with the creamy cilantro sauce. All homemade. They also have delicious crepes (desert and meals). On top of that, some of the friendliest staff in town. Located in downtown Waco.

If you want good Texas Barbecue then you need to try Helberg’s. Everything is amazing from their Brisket, Chiken, and sides. Great atmosphere with all the old country music favorites playing.

This is our go to breakfast place. I nearly always get an omelette because they’re the best in town. My husband love their Eggs Benedict and My favorite pancake is the gingerbread pecan. Yum! There is a downtown location and another one on Richland Dr.

Museum

This museum is very interesting, so well done and run by a great staff. If you are a museum-goer this should be at the top of your to do list.

Antiquing

This is just down the road in McGregor! By far my favorite antique store around. Great prices and friendly staff. I’ve found quite a few special pieces here. You can also enjoy lunch here at a sweet little cafe that has great food along with home baked pies and breads.

Late night food, beverages and fun

If you love pool, shuffleboard and games, or are looking for a place to go after dinner, I recommend Crikets. A huge variety of beers on tap, great atmosphere, and a decent menu of bar-type food. Located downtown.
