This is a Japanese restaurant in town and our favourite. We have never left disappointed after a meal there. The staff are very friendly and helpful , the Japanese beer on tap is superb I'm told and the food is next level. We highly recommend this restaurant.

This cafe in Pottsville is open for breakfast and lunch, closing kitchen at 2pm. I am a coeliac and always feel confident eating here. There are plenty of options on the menu for everyone.

Another great cafe in town, also open for breakfast and lunch with kitchen closing at 2pm. The service is great and the coffee is also worth parting with your hard earned. Their menu offers something a little different and they cater for coeliacs also.

All your grocery needs can be met here. They have all the usual but also have a deli and cooked chooks etc for a night off in the kitchen.

This shop is in Pottsville is my favourite takeaway. I'm a coeliac and their full menu is 100% gluten free. To top this off, their food is delicious with a Japanese dining flavour to the offerings. The fish is nearly always locally sourced and changes with the seasons. I have never bought anything there that I didn't find delicious.

A short five minute drive to Hastings Headland will take you to some of the best views on the eastern seaboard. Byron Lighthouse to the south and Cabarita Headland to the north. It is popular for snorkeling around the rocks or at the bommies just offshore.

Once we saw a whale swim right into the bay and have a little look at the surfers there.

If you want to experience a busier style day trip, Cabarita Beach is a ten minute drive north along the coast road and has cafes, restaurants and a beautiful boardwalk up to Norries Headland to view the whales performing in whale season. Once we saw a whale swim right into the bay and have a little look at the surfers there.

We recently took some friends for this walk and a koala walked out onto the track in front of us and ambled along for a bit before choosing a tree to climb. We have also seen wallabies and echidnas along these tracks. And a walk wouldn't be a walk if you didn't see some birds along the way. There is a short and a long walk, both clearly signed, but neither is very far or arduous. You could even safely take a wheelchair.
