The Camera Obscura & World of Illusions is a fantastic visitor attraction located at the top of the Royal Mile. It is full of fascinating, hands-on, interactive exhibits, where 21st Century tech meets classic illusions and historic science. It's a great day out for all ages and my children love it!

There is a Farmer's market held every Saturday from 9am until 2pm which has a huge variety of fresh local produce from over 35 specialist producers. It is situated at the foot of Edinburgh Castle and is only a 10 minute walk from the flat.

The Union Canal is a brilliant place to go for a relaxing stroll or an early morning jog or cycle. You could even go all the way to Ratho (about 14 miles) without going on the road and get a lovely pub lunch in the Bridge Inn.

This is a nice pub with seating indoors and outdoors next to the river. You can hire a 'Just Eat' bike and cycle there along the Union Canal.
