A nice day trip to the mountains just outside Santiago. Take the metro to Puente Alto and then a short ride by bus to San Jose de Maipo. If you have a car (or take a bus to San Gabriel) you can spend the day at Cascada de las Animas where you have facilities for horse riding, trekking, rafting, swimming pool and an excellent restaurant overlooking the Maipo river
