Sun Studio is my favorite musical museum in Memphis. The tour guides are knowledgeable, and most are musicians themselves. Sun Studios is where Elvis was discovered and where other musical legends have recorded (and continue to record).

Overton Park is a nice green space in midtown with a dog park and wide walking/biking trails. If you wander off the larger paved paths, you’ll find yourself in the Old Forest, the “only old-growth forest in the Southeast to be located in an urban environment.”

The Civil Rights Museum covers a huge swath of history from the early days of the slave trade through the Civil Rights movement. There are even exhibits about Memphis’s role in the Black Lives Matter and discussion about MLK’s legacy.

King’s Blues Club is a lively restaurant with live bands and a dancefloor. Rum Boogie Café is another favorite. I recommend grabbing a drink to-go and walking along the street to soak in the music and atmosphere.
