Inside the cities, buses are the best option. A ticket costs around 2 dollars, and you can get anywhere. For traveling between cities, the train might be a good option too, because it is more "International friendly"

Israel has the best restaurants in the world. The tricky part is to find them when you are not familiar with the area - personally I wouldn't listen to websites like trip advisor, as the information there is outdated and will lead to dissatisfaction.
