Moderate hike (a good workout) with extraordinary views. A must for young couples. Begin the hike in a neighborhood in Honolulu and when you get to the top you will be able to see Waikiki and Kailua (the south and east sides of the island). A must see!

Easy hike for families that ends in a beautiful waterfall! About a mile to the waterfall, mostly flat. Manoa is a fairly wet area so put on mosquito repellant before you go.

An old railway with an impressive elevation gain. Many locals use this trail for a good workout. When you get to the top you will see all of Waikiki, some of the east side and if you're lucky, the island of Molokai to the east. This trail can get very hot midday so bring plenty of water or plan to go early in the morning or later in the afternoon.

This trail can get very hot midday so bring plenty of water or plan to go early in the morning or later in the afternoon.
Easy 3/4 mile walk to a waterfall that you can swim in! Great for families with small children. Waimea Valley is a botanical garden that you enter for a small fee. The entire way is paved and the gardens along the way are beautiful. If you have family members in your party that might not be able to do the walk then golf cart rides to the waterfall are available for a small fee. Waimea Valley also has a great lunch spot at the bottom, snack shop at the top (near the waterfall) and great shave ice.

Hike along the ridge and have gliders whistle by, watch the skydivers free-fall, and hear small planes land and take-off. Ends at a covered picnic bench for a break and ocean views. We love this hike!
Great short hike for families and couples in the North Shore area. Once you get to the pillbox you can see the entire historic North Shore and impressive beaches. Park in the Sunset Beach Elementary School parking lot and easy to find the trailhead from there. Directly across the street from the parking lot is the North Shore's famous Ehukai beach park, home of the Pipeline Masters' surf contest held every winter.

Park in the Sunset Beach Elementary School parking lot and easy to find the trailhead from there. Directly across the street from the parking lot is the North Shore's famous Ehukai beach park, home of the Pipeline Masters' surf contest held every winter.
Best hike on Oahu's East side. Fairly short hike, good for families and couples exploring Kailua and it's surrounding area. Impressive views of the vast Pacific facing north. There are plenty of places to eat in Kailua afterwards.

This botanical garden is the most beautiful on the island and makes for some pretty impressive Christmas card photos :) Easy, paved walkways and epic views.

Beautiful for sunrise hikes if you can get there that early. An awesome treat for afterwards is to plan a stop at the Kona Brewing Co. in nearby Hawaii Kai.

Makapuʻu Point Lighthouse TrailThis is a spectacular paved walk/hike where you can see the humpback whales in the winter months - AND on a clear day you will be able to see the nearby island of Molokai. Beautiful for sunrise hikes if you can get there that early. An awesome treat for afterwards is to plan a stop at the Kona Brewing Co. in nearby Hawaii Kai.
