Sightseeing

Included here is a selection of what I think are the most interesting or scenic sights to visit. If you have only a few days in Rotorua, these are a "must see".
An enthralling geothermal experience. Mud pools, Lady Knox geyser, sinter terrace, boling pools and beautifully coloured boiling lake. The Lady Know Geyser is presented daily at 10.15am so be sure to arrive in good time to see it "play". The mud pools can be accessed outside the park on a signposted loop road. They are fascinating and certainly worth the 5 minute detour.

The village of Te Wairoa was destroyed by the eruption of Mount Tarawera in 1886. Successive archaeological excavations have unearthed areas of the village to provide an insight into the life and times of the people who lived here. Set in a beautiful landscape the walk and the history make this a worthwhile 1/2 day visit.
