Because of the nature of the Walkway winding through the heart of the city, you can choose to join it and leave it at lots of places up and down the river, linking with other paths, cycle routes, the canal and Pentland Hills.

The Pentland Hills can be accessed from many places but the carpark at Flotterstone in is one of the most popular. The hills are popular with visitors and locals alike. Runners and cyclists, amblers, hikers and photographers love the views and the bird life that can be seen all year round.

Towns to visit nearby
North Berwick is a quaint seaside town, a short bus ride away and is a lovely place to visit in summer or winter. The beach has a sandy area for swimming and rock pools for exploring. Tantallon Castle is just a few more miles further south. It can be reached by a bus taken from the promenade area, or, weather permitting, a lovely walk, mostly along the beach. If cycling, it is easily reached along the road.

It is a close walk from the apartment and also very close to Grassmarket square, with it's own market and an array of interesting shops and historic places to see.

A great beach to visit in all seasons. The promenade had an array of food and drink places to choose from. Just wear something warm if you plan to sit outside and enjoy the views.

There is a walk up to the castle from the park itself. The park itself has a number of historical statues, each with a plaque of interesting historical information.
Edinburgh Castle is a place of historic interest for all, and a popular tourist destination. Set upon its mighty rock, its strategic advantage is clear. The view from the top of the Royal Mile alone, is a good reason to take a walk up there.
