Neighborhoods

Casa das Pedras is located in São João, just outside the town of Campanario. It has a very local feel, and most of our neighbours grow their own potatoes and onions. It is away from tourists and allows you to experience the Madeira country feel. The house is down steps from the road and has total privacy with a view over the valley and ocean. There is a cafe you can stroll to for your morning coffee, and vans regularly drive on our road selling fresh bread, fruit and vegetables and fish. Each van has its own ring tone. Past guests have told us that our house is perfect for people wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy and view.

City/town information

Ribeira Brava is our closest large town with three supermarkets, a beach front with cafes and restaurants and cobbled streets with small shops selling an array of things from household items to gifts made in Madeira. It is about a 10 minute drive. There is a beach area to swim, protected by a stone wall. They have recently built a promenade from Ribeira Brava along the coast to Tabua, which makes a nice evening stroll. Ribeira Brava also has a bus station with buses going to most areas of the island.

Транспорт

It is best if you have your own car.

We are out in the country and walking is either up hill or down hill with very little flat. So having a car to explore the area is advisable.
