There are 53 public beaches in Door County and some of them may disappear depending upon lake levels. Here are some of the most favorite of locals!
Washington Island would not be a complete trip without checking out Schoolhouse Beach! As tempting as it may be PLEASE allow the rocks to remain on the ground not in your pockets or being built into a cairn. It REALLY contributes to erosion.

This 300 acre small lake in the Gills Rock area is a scenic clear water shallow lake which is pristine and the most secluded of all Door County inland lakes. A large portion is partially bordered by Newport State Park . Some visitors claim this spot to be perfect for unpopulated beach time!

Bordered by private property on either side, you’ll find a skipping stones surplus in this secluded beach/kayak and canoe launch. Open to wind and the wake of passing motor craft, what you lack in calm water you make up in rock demand. A person could easily throw their arm out at Pebble Beach!
