Perfect walk for a rainy day, feels like a tropical rain-forest.
The drive up the steep, winding, narrow road through Hardknott and Wynose passes is often tricky and always a little frightening (especially when icy), but this adds to the experience, as the setting of the fort is spectacular and the scenery incredible. Not too far of a drive from studio.

Perfect day out, a walk up to Blea tarn then back down to boot village for lunch at Boot Inn or Brook house pub followed by an ice cream on 'La'al Ratty' home. Great swimming spot on a hot day!

Eskdale Mill dates back to 1578, and is located in Boot village. Take Ratty trainfrom the Green Station to Dalegarth. Hop off the train walk up towards Brook house Inn. Turn left up towards Boot Inn. There is a fascinating exhibition explaining the whole milling process and the workings of the unique wooden machinery. The mill may often be seen operating.

The view from almost 3000ft is spectacular. Scafell and Scafell Pike to the west looks amazing and Great Langdale to the east stretches round to Lake Windermere.

St Catherine’s dates back to the 12th century when the Priory of St Bees owned a chapel here. The setting is magnificent, with a backdrop of Scafell Pike.

The remains of the bath house at Ravenglass are the most substantial visible evidence of the Roman fort that once stood on this site. They are located beside a metalled track off the modern road just before Ravenglass village

Has a long series of fantastic pools to swim through out the valley. Tongue Pot is more dramatic with high jumps possible. Higher up the valley there are many small pools, enjoyable walk up on a sunny day and dip in the water to cool off.
