If you have time to kill, visit D.C. Booth Fish Hatchery. It's open 365 days a year and is free. In the summer, the buildings are open for tours. In the winter, it's still fun to view the fish and wildlife and hike the short nature trails. A do-not-miss if you are in Spearfish.
