When you need a break from great beer take a taster of some of Colorado’s finest ciders. Ask to be seated in their quiet rear patio. Plus these guys make a mean burger. Portions are large!

Excellent Indian food and craft beers too. Relaxed bar atmosphere. Not so picturesque location but walking distance from old town Arvada (which is worth a stroll). Very popular buffet on weekends. Can be busy with people waiting for tables and takeout!

Try something different (to Woody’s pizzza) while you’re in Golden. This place has a gorgeous outdoor patio with shade from overhanging trees. It has an interesting food selection from Himalayas/Nepal though for true fans of “Indian” cuisine, would recommend the slightly less picturesque Yak and Yeti in Arvada instead.

Truly the best burritos in Colorado. Previously a food truck with a cult following and now in their new cool permanent home in Ford Street with great outdoor patio. Perfect for brunch.

Hang out and eat or drink in this (new) totally chill venue in Golden by the creek. Rooftop patio and “yard” provides tons of outdoor seating. Very casual atmosphere.
“Check in” on the ground floor to pick up a charge card and then hit up the vendors for your favorite (smokehouse, tacos, sushi, chicken) and don’t forget an ice cream when you’re done. Oh, and the self serve wall of over 50 kinds of beer on tap (plus wine and margaritas) says it all!

Hiking and Mountain Biking
The visitors center is just 1 mile further up the canyon from the home. 58 miles of multi use trails. Nearly all trails start with a climb!
For hiking we recommend a gentle out and back on Horseshoe to get you started. Or a shaded Beaver trail hike which is short but be prepared for a steeper climb. For mountain biking, Mule Deer is a must.

Don’t go to Starbucks, keep it local with this great little coffee shop in the best location on Washington Avenue. Good selection of cafe food too. Can get busy especially at lunch time. Service can some times be slow so prepare to sit back and people watch!
