Dorset is a quaint little town with a beautiful lookout tower and an awesome general store!
It is a bit of a drive (30min), if you were headed to Algonquin Park it is a nice halfway stop.

Lovely town in Muskoka! It is about a 45 minute- 1 hour drive from Minden. It has an abundance of local shops, restaurants, and parks! It also has a beautiful waterfall right in the middle of town.

This adult only resort and dinning experience is my personal favourite. The scenery, the menu, the staff.. It's just perfect! Don't forget to make a reservation!

On Tuesdays the brewery hosts Canoe FM radio bingo + dinner. Friday night and Sunday afternoons there is live music (call to reserve a table) Saturday night there is in-house Trivia!

Super cute little pioneer village. Always open to walk around, in the summer they have the buildings open for people to go in and learn more about each space.

This waterfall is located just before the West Gate of Algonquin. It is one of my favourite hiking trails/ waterfalls!
Pack a lunch and have a picnic while you enjoy the rushing water!

The West Gate is about an hour drive from Minden. There are tons of view points, hiking trails, and wildlife! I usually make a day out of it and drive through the park.
Pack a lunch and some water! It is worth the drive, most of the time you can spot a moose!

This is one of my favourite places to hike! It can be an all day hike or just a couple hours. With multiple rest spots, a beaver pond, and stunning lookouts it really shows the beauty of the Haliburton Highlands. The trail starts at the Hawk River Log Chute on Big Hawk Lake Road. The Log chute is also a lovely little start to the hike, read about its history and admire the craftmanship of pioneers!
This trail has a few steep hills, make sure to bring snacks and water!

This is one of my favourite places to hike! It can be an all day hike or just a couple hours. A relatively new hiking trail in the highlands, Dahl Forest used to be an old farmstead and there are still remnants of the old barn at the start of the trail! The forest is full of trails, some are along the Burnt River.

Beautiful hiking trail but there are a lot of hills! Some of the view points are hard to see due to all the leaves. But it is still a lovely area to hike!
Make sure to bring some snacks and water!

Another relatively new hiking trail built by the Haliburton Land Trust. This is one of my favourites! Super beautiful little creek with some mini waterfalls and well maintained trails. The forest has a couple different trails depending on how far you would like to go, some are a flat while others are hilly.

The forest has a couple different trails depending on how far you would like to go, some are a flat while others are hilly.
