This is a great local craft brewery with all the wins: quality beer, tasting flights, sweet location in an old church, attached music venue, really nicely finished modern space, good music playing, and a great menu.

Excellent little gem of a restaurant. Soup and samosa. Simple. The hot lentil soup, and the spinach & potato samosas are a personal fave. Vegatarian.

What's not to love. A local fave for 40 years, the restaurant is still family owned. The 3 brothers are born and bred professionals and this place is a well-oiled machine most of the time. They can accommodate vegetarian and vegan, and are good with pretty much any dietary or whatever alteration you may need. They have a great back patio beside the Friendship Trail which runs along the Niagara River. It's a great place for families too.

This little cutie knows what's up. While taking in Historic Ridgeway village, make sure to build up an appetite for fries at the Chip Shack.

Out of doors

Lesser known beach, free admission, limited parking and it can get pretty bumping. This is a great place to take firewood and build a sandpit in the sand. The sand dunes make this place an extra special view.

The point where Lake Erie meets the mouth of the Niagara River is almost as exciting as when it goes over the escarpment further up the river. Did you know it flows North? Many nice locations along the shore to park with tables for a picnic. For the water folk: launch a boat for skiing, fishing, or enjoying a float from the top of the river to Chippewa creek. Be careful, that last step's a doozy. :)

Located at the south end of Helena Street and Edgemere Road Waverly Beach is a large sandy beach with lovely waterfront trails with access to the remains of Erie Beach Amusement Park. This place is extremely cool, with ruins all through the forest. There are many historic plaques in this area that describe the historic Erie Beach Park which was a flapper-era landmark, and, arguably more importantly, this is also a site where W.E.B. Du Bois founded the Niagara Movement, which became the NAACP. From the beach you can see the city of Buffalo and the remains of Erie Beach Amusement Park including the long concrete dock where visitors from Buffalo would disembark for a day of picnicing along the shore of Lake Erie. * Note that on October 31st 2019 there were high winds that destroyed part of the walking trail along the lake. This is still worth visiting even to see what heavy damage this beautiful lake is capable of. Plenty of other walking routes. Also - wear repellent, long sleeves and check for ticks - pretty much anywhere in Fort Erie from April to October.

The Friendship Trail extends 16 kms across the Town of Fort Erie, running parallel to the north shore of Lake Erie. Beginning at the Port Colborne border in the west, this relaxing and picturesque trail takes visitors through lush farmland, quaint villages, pristine watersheds, and quiet residential areas as it leads to historic Old Fort Erie, Lake Erie and the Niagara River Recreation Trail . Much of the trail is located upon an abandoned rail line, meaning it is relatively level and smooth - an easy ride for children and adults alike. The trail is used by walkers, hikers, cyclists and rollerbladers in the summer, and hikers and cross-country skiers in the winter. Of course, the trail is also wheelchair accessible. Pack your water, as there is not much access to buy or drink fresh water along this trail.

NOMAD music is a treasure trove of history from the family owned business, as well as quality instruments and wears. Nigh's chocolates is legitimately some of the best chocolate I've ever had. The Garden Gallery and ZOOZ is fun for families. The Scuttlebutt is a local fave watering hole on Black Creek.
