This place is what cafe/yoga studio/inside jungle dreams are made of. It's the perfect spot to work, grab a healthy bite or take a class. My favorite is Sunday mornings with Keri Bergeron, and you can sign up on their website.

Complete with a golf course, zoo and planetarium, City Park is a gem within Denver proper. From the front of Denver Museum of Nature & Science, you can get a great view of the mountains, and it's great for strolling and picnicking. Plus, there are loads of restaurants and cafes along E Colfax for before or after.

This is one of our favorite close hikes, and it's mostly shaded. Park near the Gregory Canyon Trailhead and you'll have multiple routes to access the three Flatirons. Plus, you can climb the first flatiron. If you're into hiking, let us know and we can send you some of our favorite routes, but we also tend to search AllTrails and wing it when we're looking for something new.

Just steps from our house, this is a hand roll sushi place that really emphasizes quality. It's a wraparound bar, so you get to watch the chef create the rolls, and there's even a special if you can beat the previous record for rolls eaten.

Что взять с собой

Prepare for anything

Denver's weather can be pretty unpredictable, especially in the winter—snow one day, 70 & sunny the next. Check the weather when you pack and bring layers, especially if you're planning to hike. In the summer it can be 80+ in the city and 40 in the mountains. (I wish I'd read this before doing my first 14er)

Get out of town

Iouri and I always say we're here for the amenities—because hiking, climbing, mountain biking, skiing, etc. are all super accessible. If you don't have/rent a car, it's a little trickier, but there’s a train to Winter Park and shuttles to many resorts.

Lift tickets

If you're coming out to ski/snowboard, definitely look into tickets/packages beforehand. Depending on how many days you're doing, it might make more sense to get a season pass. We easily do day trips from our house and can get to Vail in around 1.5 hours if we leave by 6am.

Take a walk

Our neighborhood is incredibly walkable—78 on Zillow for those in the know. Sprouts (a Trader Joe's/Whole Foods hybrid) is within a mile. Berkeley Lake Park is two blocks away and has a lap pool ($2 entry), dog park, library and a trail around the reservoir. Tennyson Street is seven blocks east and boasts numerous boutiques, breweries, cafes, coffee shops, etc. We also have scooters and bikes in the area so you can easily access the Highlands and beyond. Otherwise, most neighborhoods and plenty of hiking are a short drive away, thanks to our proximity to I-70.
