Best value for fish and seafood without a doubt plus incredible view over the Cascais Bay. Definitely give this one a try! The Fish Rodizio is the best value in town and includes soup, 5 different grilled fish and dessert! Seafood Rodizio also great value. Order a "Vinho Verde" to compliment these dishes. Casal Garcia is a cheap alternative but never disappoints!

If you know what's good for you, do not miss an opportunity to drive from the house to Praia da Adraga. the route itself via Guincho is spectacular enough. The restaurant is a secluded best-kept-secret! Choose a sunny day preferably with low wind. The restaurant is right on the beach. My recommendation is the grilled Octopus!! Finish your meal with an "Amarguinha" - a chilled almond liqueur on ice with a dash of lemon - they make a particularly good one here! Take a towel and swimming trunks to catch some sun on the beach before or after your meal. A dip in the Atlantic is always recommended to bring vitality back to your bones!

Definitely, definitely try this. Perhaps on your way back from Praia da Adraga. They serve light uncomplicated meals here but you come here undoubtedly for the view and atmosphere! Better as a drinks and snacks venue rather than lunch / dinner. Don't be surprised if you find this place and refuse to leave! It is that magical a venue - part of an old windmill with sweeping, panoramic views of the ocean. Better in sunny weather although lovely fireplaces inside for a cosy winter experience. You will thank me for this hidden little gem!

Another hidden little gem, best-kept-secret! Lunch is amazing on the terrace with a view over Lisbon. Booking essential after 7pm for dinner in the main house on the 1st floor. The view is breathtaking. This is a pop-the-question kind of place. Many a budding romance started and flourished from this very venue. Starters are good, light meals and traditional cuisine served with an international flair. You can thank me later...

Restaurant linked to the Lisbon yacht club. Beautiful spot along the Tagus River. Excellent seafood and fish. Good place to eat traditional cuisine. More for locals in the know and definitely worth a visit. If you're adventurous, try the boiled fish eggs "ovas". They also come fried if I'm not mistaken. Loaded with protein and delicious.

If you have heard of the "Pastel de Nata" - Traditional portuguese cream tartlet - This bakery started making them in 1837 and it is still all they do. Tourists from all over flock here to order their "Pasteis de Nata" and coffee. No other cream tart comes close. they are served warm, fresh from the oven and are truly something to write home about!

This is the epitome of Lisbon nightlife. From 10pm till 4am. Bars and clubs are practically on every street corner. There are simply too many to mention catering for all tastes and orientations. The streets of Bairro Alto are normally alive and vibrant with tourists and locals alike sampling cocktails from various establishments or just meeting up with friends before heading on to a dancing venue or club. There are also many restaurant and good eating options. You may want to start a little earlier with dinner and then take it from there. I forget the name but if you happen upon a bar with inverted cabbages as light fittings, try it! It's a must!

Calouste Gulbenkian was an eccentric Armenian Billionaire that loved Portugal so much, he left his entire fortune to the city. The CG Foundation sports an incredible art gallery with artefacts through the ages. definitely worth seeing. he was an avid collector of rare, priceless items. There were rumours that he ordered himself a gold plated Rolls Royce. the foundation also boasts a beautiful and tranquil garden. Many theatre and music performances are staged at this lovely venue. Boca do Inferno is translated "Mouth of Hell". The site is not as ominous as the name suggests. This is a chasm located in the seaside cliffs near to Cascais. Worth a visit. Also a place to buy local souvenirs and artefacts you may want to take back as mementos and presents if you are that way inclined.

Depending on your fitness level from Sintra National Palace it's a steep uphill walk 1.2km up the mountain to The Moorish Castle and Pena Palace. If you're up for it, I strongly recommend the walk. It takes you through beautiful gardens and mountain scenery with views down to Sintra all along. Pack a picnic lunch. Many beautiful spots to enjoy lunch on your way up or down. If you're not up for the exercise, you can get transport down at Sintra National Palace. The Pena Palace stands on the top of a hill in the Sintra mountains offering panoramic views to Lisbon and beyond. It is a national monument and constitutes one of the major expressions of 19th century Romanticism in the world. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the 7 wonders of Portugal.

Take an 800m walk to Monte Estoril beyond the train station onto the long pier that stretches from Cascais to Carcavelos. This is a great place for walking along the coast, crowd spotting, sitting for a drink or jogging and keeping fit. the beauty about living at our villa is the nearness to this pier. When I am here, I try to get my exercise there every morning. Many locals and tourists spill out onto this pier at most hours of the day. On your way there or back be sure to stop at the "Jardim Carlos Anjos" a small park with a coffee shop serving refreshments. This is a perfect spot for your morning coffee and only 600 metres from the house!
