Alte is characterized by the fontes: sources of clean, fresh water that cross through Alte. The Fonte Grande has a piscina fluvial, a natural pool where you can bathe fine. At the Fonte Pequena are a number of poems written by Cándido Guerreiro, a local poet (born in Alte in 1871). A nice place for a countryside walk. Queda do Vigário, a beautiful waterfall formed by the river Alte. This is slightly south of Alte located in a beautiful landscape. The water plunges vertically from sixteen meters down and falls into a small lake. A quiet place to relax.

Estoi is a beautiful small village near the city of Faro. The village is known for the beautiful old palace which is situated in the village (Now it's a hotel; Pousada). Walking through the streets of Estoi; time stands still. Also The Church of Estoi is a visit worth.

In this village you will find beautiful white houses and the remains of the old castle. A modern museum shows the archaeological work around this castle. Closed on saturday. The Igreja Matriz shines on the village square.

By ferry across the Ria Formosa , to Armona and Culatra / Farol. The atmosphere, the smell, the houses built on the sand and the beautiful quiet beaches on the Ocean side. The walk around the island is relaxing and offers many impressions.

Rocha da Pena walk (well marked) is not very long, about 6.9 kilometers but impressive. The first climb is a challenge and from below you wonder if you'll ever get at the top of that huge rock. Once at the top the view is impressive and the flora surprising. Rocha da Pena is gorgeous!

The first climb is a challenge and from below you wonder if you'll ever get at the top of that huge rock. Once at the top the view is impressive and the flora surprising. Rocha da Pena is gorgeous!
Ameixial is located in the ' Serra do Caldeirao ' , you can walk well, The beauty of Ameixial is nature - to all sides fanning the paths of the hills. The trails are well marked with beautiful panoramas. Old cafes with typical portuguese food. Nice to be ............. !

A quiet walk. It takes about one and a half hour.

Worth visiting. This chapel of the patron saint of the Algarve is situated on a hill.
