Two great resturants on one historic property. The Main House is a historic residence with many small dining rooms. The Stable House is more rustic. Both have appropriate historic decor. The dishes are locally sourced and themed. I love the Monona Meatloaf at the Stable House.

Tanya has been a friend for a decade and has built her business from the ground up. The french toast is my favorite but the fresh cinnomon rolls on Saturday morning rival my dear departed grandmother's. Hurry they go fast.

Great food and atmosphere. La Brioche sources local ingredients that are organic from farmers. Everything made from scratch. They are known for their bakery, wood oven for pizza, breakfast, brunch, lunch, soups, salads and sandwiches. Out door seating available during warm weather too.

The Henry Vilas Zoo is one of the best free community zoos. If you are more in the mood to watch wildlife in their native habitat take a stroll through the nearby UW Arboretum or watch birds (and sometimes fish) on Lake Wingra. From ice out to when it warms up in May, Wisconsin's state fish, the muskellunge, are running up Wingra Creek and do their best to try and jump the dam into Lake Wingra. No fishing allowed! Still dozens of 3 to 4 foot long fish are fun to watch.

I love the Chocolate Lab Porter at Wisconsin Brewing. Summer time the patio is a favorite place to have a beer and bring the pooch for a swim.
