Hiking/Outdoors

You are in the middle of some of the best hiking and sightseeing that the Blue Ridge Mountains have to offer.
The Art Loeb Trail. Stretches for 30 miles. Closest to Asheville it crosses the highway at Milepost 420, about 30 min from Asheville NC. Spectacular view from Black Balsam Knob and Tennent Mountain.

Pisgah National Forest, Brevard, NC Best for Summer- Great falls, fun to slide down rock into clean crystal clean water!!! All people had fun........would suggest to wear those "boat water" shoes since rocks are hard to walk on, but otherwise, had fun...would do it again!!!

Also has a trailhead that is world class. May be a bit strenuous for a beginner hiker. Make sure to bring plenty of water/food with you. Always stay on trails Located 20.3 miles or 40 minutes away

F. Van Clayton Highway, Rosman, NC The summit of Sassafras Mountain is the border of SC and NC, and is the highest natural point in SC, with beautiful views of the landscape from the summit. You can drive a paved road to a parking lot just below the summit. There is a paved walkway of a couple hundred feet or so to the summit, where there is a 360 degree observation tower, a rock with a summit plaque and a geological survey marker. There is a pathway from the parking lot to the summit that is marked as "handicapped accessible", though I have my doubts considering it's not paved. To get there, just plug "Sassafrass Mountain" into Google Maps and it will take you exactly where you need to go.
