Sightseeing
The Pentland Hills are known locally as “the lungs of Edinburgh”. I enjoy walking around Threpmuir reservoir and Harlaw reservoir. There are many
other walks and trails in the Pentlands, mountain biking, fishing is also available but you may need to obtain a
permit. There is a bird hide for those who like bird watching this is at Bavelaw Marsh (just
past Balerno).
There are other places to access the Pentland Hills and these include Flotterstone, Bonaly
Country Park and Hill End Country Park.
If you love skiing/snowboarding and can’t wait until the winter, there is Midlothian
Snowsports Centre, Britain's biggest artificial ski slope set in the hillside of the Pentland Hills
Regional Park, you can hire boots, skis and snowboards, lessons are also available.
