Some of the best shopping in Australia is on the Gold Coast.
Mermaid Plaza has just opened (Feb 2023) which is a 400 metre walk. It currently has a Woolworths Metro store and a Cellarbrations store open. Metro trading hours are from 6 am to 10 pm M-S and 8 to 8 on Sunday. Very convenient! Metro has a barista bar which is open into the afternoon after most cafes in the area have closed! Chut cafe is now open (trading starts at 5:30 am) and Super Butcher. Other shops and restaurants will be opening over the coming months.

What is it? The Gold Coast’s first organic growers market. It’s a great place to get something special and local if you plan to eat in while visiting.
It’s held on the oval at Miami High every Sunday from 6am, this morning market is packed with delicious certified organic fruit and veggies. It’s ideal for locals and travellers with self-catering accommodation.
It’s within walking distance although the walking gets a little tricky close to the high school. Best to keep on the west sidewalk and cross at the light in front of the school.

Nobby’s Shack. (Name above not correct but can’t seem to change it!) The best cafe in Nobby’s for families. Great menu, lovely enclosed area at the back with a play area for kids. Very kid friendly with fast service and friendly staff

Broadbeach is the area near Pacific Mall about 3 tram stops from the unit, or a short walk down the beach. Great children’s playgrounds near the beach. Lots of restaurants and nightlife. Some shopping.

Why go? This colourful market, which takes place at Mermaid Beach Bowls Club on the fourth Saturday of every month, features barefoot bowls, live music, food, drinks and funky fashion stalls. Drinks are cheap, bowling is free and the mood is relaxed.
