Hiking
The Narrows hike is my favorite in Zion. It has you wading in water almost the entire time, and some spots can be waist-deep or higher. It's best (much more comfortable) to rent shoes, neoprene socks and a stick to hike past the paved Riverside Walk portion. Zion Guru, Zion Adventure Company, or any of the other outfitters in Springdale should have them.
Another option to consider is purchasing used gear, often for cheaper than you can rent! Once the rental shoes have tears in them or the soles get worn, they usually put them up for sale, but they're still good shoes that do what you need them to do. Dry bags are a good idea to protect your belongings. I like carrying a puff jacket in my drybag no matter what time of year, because once you're wet and the sun goes away, it gets chilly quick here! Also, a windbreaker is always great to have because it's so light to carry; it can get chilly & windy in slot canyons. It would be a shame to have to cut your day short just because you didn’t bring warm enough gear!
You can make a whole day out of the narrows bottom up hike... The further you go up, the cooler the air gets, and the less people you see. It's more strenuous than you'd think because the water adds an extra challenge, but that said, the way back down is much quicker than the way up since you're going with the current. You can even take a side jaunt up Orderville canyon for a bit; there will be waterfalls you'll have to get up and over, so that can be wetter than the Narrows itself, but very fun!
The narrows bottom up (the one you don't need a permit for) is accessible via the shuttle thru main canyon. During spring snow melt run off though, check and make sure its open first - for safety reasons, it closes when the flow rate is too high! During a typical year, the Narrows is closed for the last couple weeks in April and the first couple weeks of May.

Even if you decide to stop at Scout's Lookout and not go up the chain-laden part of the trail, it still offers great views and a nice workout with all the switchbacks! You'll have to catch the shuttle to get to this hike. You also now need a permit, which you can apply for the day before you want to hike it. I would recommend trying it, and if at any point you're uncomfortable, you can turn around, or you can continue up further on the West Rim trail as another excellent option. It's very pretty the whole way.

I would recommend trying it, and if at any point you're uncomfortable, you can turn around, or you can continue up further on the West Rim trail as another excellent option. It's very pretty the whole way.
Canyon overlook is stunning. It is a shorter hike, so there are typically a lot of people on it, but stunning nonetheless. You can drive to this one; heading East on Rte 9, it's right after the first (& longest) tunnel. The trailhead will be on your left, and there's a small parking lot on your right. The trailhead has a sign that's hard to read from the road, and the trail itself is hard to see because it's pretty much straight up a rock wall at the beginning! If there's no parking available at that lot, there are a few more options a bit further down the road. There are a couple spots behind the pit toilets on the left and various street parking spots after that.

Canyon Overlook TrailCanyon overlook is stunning. It is a shorter hike, so there are typically a lot of people on it, but stunning nonetheless. You can drive to this one; heading East on Rte 9, it's right after the first (& longest) tunnel. The trailhead will be on your left, and there's a small parking lot on your right. The trailhead has a sign that's hard to read from the road, and the trail itself is hard to see because it's pretty much straight up a rock wall at the beginning! If there's no parking available at that lot, there are a few more options a bit further down the road. There are a couple spots behind the pit toilets on the left and various street parking spots after that.
