Its a volcano. Thats active. Vocanist Science talks every Tuesday night. Bowling alley. Also Thurston Lava tube. Its worth it if you've never seen a lava tube

The history here will give you chicken skin. Its one of the sites that were wiped out during tsunami, and particularly poignent because it was mostly school children who were encourage to walk the beach when the ocean sucked out, because the teachers were mainland and didn't know better. Also a place with beautiful skies. Have seen people filming clouds professionally. Not great for swimming, too rough. Its a good drive, but worth it as you will also see old plantation houses as you wind down the road
