Food scene
This is the best new restaurant in town! Located in Osage Beach and about an hour drive but worth it if you're interested in driving to town and having a nice lunch or dinner out. They make fresh, hand-made cocktails, and great food. They also have a great wine list (by the bottle). They are right on the water and have a cool atmosphere! Ask about the history of this building if you go! (Located on the water, around MM17.5 so if you go by boat, it'll be a long boat ride!)

This marina/resort has a restaurant called Surfside Bay Bar & Grill. They have great pizza! They also have a good frozen drink specialty (maybe called a hurricane). This place is just a few minutes away by boat, around mile marker 58. (It's on the opposite side of the shoreline from our house so a pretty long drive.)

Neighborhoods
About 15-20 minutes away - this is the closest little town that has a gas station/convenience store (7 Express), bank, post office, a little neighborhood market, and a breakfast and lunch restaurant (Come On In Cafe). At the farthest edge of town they also have a Dollar General.

About 45 minutes away - the closest town with a Walmart, some fast food places, and other restaurants.
Also check out downtown Warsaw! There are some good restaurants and shops.

About 45 min-1 hour away - this is the main lake town around Lake of the Ozarks. It has regular grocery stores (Dierbergs and Woods are our favorites), Walmart, Target, lots of restaurants - sit down and fast food, a movie theater, an outlet mall, nail salons, medical clinics, boat and sporting goods stores, several wineries (Shawnee Bluff has great wine and food - we like the wood-fired pizza)... pretty much anything you need. Oh and don't forget the frozen custard! (Randy's is a local favorite and Andy's is great too.) You can also visit the Dam at mile marker 1 on the lake. There's a cute little touristy area right by the Dam with some restaurants, shops, and even an old fashioned photography studio.

It's quite a drive (about an hour) but if you're planning to spend a day in town anyway, don't miss this place! They have good wine and good food, and a great lake view from their outside deck.
