The Victorian Gardens were all about symmetry and there is grand harmony throughout. The majestic trees, 240 varieties, nurture and shelter and many are original. The Victorians were all about education and introduced many new species to Nova Scotia. Check our What's Blooming on our website to discover the highlights of each month. Horticultural Hall, circa 1837. the original meeting place of the Nova Scotia Horticultural Society houses a coffee shop and The Friends of the Public Gardens Information Desk. Free tours offered.

Experience an exciting part of Canada's history by visiting this 19th-century fort with a sweeping view of downtown Halifax. Between May and October, the Citadel is brought to life by two historic regiments of the British Army - the pageantry of the 78th Highlanders and the precision of the Royal Artillery thrill visitors daily with live re-enactments. The skirl of the bagpipes mixes with the crack of a rifle and the assembly of recruits for the next foot drill. There's no shortage of authentic experiences to view and participate in! Kids will love the Xplorers Program - an activity book just for them. When the sun sets, it's time to experience the other side of the Citadel - join the Citadel Ghost Walk and experience the dark and eerie lore from the early 1800s. Tours start mid-July and run every Friday and Saturday nights starting at 8:30 pm until the end of October. Cash at the front gate.

You can stop and visit the Canadian Museum of Immigration, the Halifax Seaport Farmers' Market, the collection of temporary food shacks & seasonal vendors at the base of Salter Street, and the various places to linger for very good views of the Harbour & watercraft & Georges Island Lighthouse. There are a handful of public parking options along the length of the Boardwalk, with others up the hill in the city. You can also take one of two ferries from the Dartmouth side of the Harbour to access the Halifax Waterfront.

This is probably one of the best deals in town! Only $2.75 gets you on board the ferry for a 10-minute ride across the harbor to Dartmouth. If you spend 90 minutes or less on the other side, your ticket is a transfer that gets you home without paying again. The views from the water are great so make sure to bring your camera!!

HMCS Sackville, the last remaining Flower Class Corvette in the world, symbolizes the extraordinary effort of Canadians seventy years ago during the Second World War. Restored to her wartime configuration she serves as a museum and memorial to those lost during the Battle of the Atlantic and to honor those who serve and continue to serve in the Naval Service of Canada. HMCS Sackville is currently undergoing a major refit and unfortunately will not be open to visitors until the summer of 2019.

Along with her awesome beauty, there is a real danger when you venture to close to the edge. Please respect the warning,s the rocks are very slippery and to many people have lost their lives. Enjoy the scenery and leave with the memory.
