Sightseeing

If you ask me the first step is the Happy Train and Sightseing Bus
A must see 10 minutes away from home. I would recomend it on the start of your tour or in the end of your tour . It would be difficult when there is too much sun . Athens' Panathenaic Stadium or Panathinaiko, is also known as the Kallimarmaro (Καλλιμάρμαρο), which means "beautifully marbled" and is the world's only stadium made entirely of marble which coomes from nearby Mount Pendeli. It is opposite the National Garden and its first building was made of wood in 330 BC. The marble structure that has survived to date was realized by Herodes Atticus. It was the venue where the athletic games took place during the Panathenaic feast. Today's stadium was built in 1869-1870 and has a capacity of 60,000 seats. He hosted the first Olympic Games of Modern History (1896).The top of the Panathinaiko Stadium gives you the best shot of the Acropolis. The stadium was used during the 2004 Olympics and still hosts Atheletic events and majorconcerts such as Bob Dylan, Depeche Mode, Tina Turner, Black Sabbath, REM and Sakis Rouvas, and even the Harlem Globetrotters have played here. The area behind the stadium is wooded and is a popular place for joggers and power-walkers.

A must see 10 minutes away from our apartment . In an area of 160 acres you will be able to admire five hundred different species of plants, shrubs and trees from all over the world. The planting took place during the period 1838-1860 in order to function as a palace garden. As you walk through its paths, you will find a lake with ducks, a small zoo, the Botanical Museum, the small traditional cafe, the children's library and playground, as well as scattered monuments of antiquity and busts of celebrities of modern Greece.

The world's strangest train. It leaves from the top of Ploutarch street in Kolonaki. Some people walk up but I think the effect is more spectacular when you go on what they call the Funicular Railway. If you have kids this is the way to go. It's like a ride at an amusement park...sort of. It costs about 2 euro each way and you can buy r/t tickets but the walk down is easy and you can choose which part of Athens you want to end up in.

It is the largest Gallery of the country and is one of the living cells of the cultural movement in Athens. It consists of 117 paintings, recorded in 1878. The Gallery was then enriched by private collections donated by many Greek painters and collectors such as Al. Soutzos and Koutlidis. Do not miss to see: "The Kissing" by N.Lytra, "The Engagement" by N.Gyzi, "The Concert of the Angels" by Dom. Theotokopoulos, "The Deeproix's Greek Kavalaris".

It was built between 1834-1838 and was the palace of the kings of Greece. This simple and simple building houses the Hellenic Parliament today. In front of it there is the Monument of the Unknown Soldier as two Evzons, dressed in the old uniform of the Greeks belonging to the presidential guard.
