Places Around Killington - Summer Edition

Places to Eat Killington VT Breakfast •Sugar and Spice – this place is towards Rutland and away from Killington, but it has AMAZING breakfast if you want to sit down. It also sells its own Maple Syrup and other trinkets from Killington. Great Sunday brunch spot. •Killington Deli at Route 4 – This place is great for sandwiches, coffee, beer/wine/liquor. It has the Citgo gas station attached so you can’t miss it. I would recommend getting a breakfast sandwich on a roll. The rolls are crispy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. •Liquid Art – on Killington Road. Great spot for cappuccinos/coffee/quick breakfast. It is a cool spot to sit and hang if you want as well. Dinner/Lunch •Lookout Tavern – lookout is a pretty cool spot. It is a bar with good bar food and they have a small patio on the second floor where you can sit. They have GREAT wings if you like those. •Jax – This is a really good late night spot. They also have food, sometimes live bands and a patio outside for drinking. •Foundry- this place is a little more upscale. It has good food and sometimes has live bands. They make pretty good cocktails. It is distinguishable by the water wheel outside. They also have some outdoor seating/drinking and great views. •The Garlic – The garlic is a great Italian food spot. Be sure to ask how to properly crush the garlic and mix it with the oil when you get your bread. It is SOOO good. ipie - if you are looking for a quick spot to pick up a slice I would suggest ipie over any other pizza places up there. Fun Spots - Summer •Killington doesn’t have too many late night spots in the off season Jax is most likely it. •Pyramid Holistic Wellness Center - Salt caves in rutland. It’s a pretty cool spot. I am not sure if you need to make an appointment so you might want to call before. It is probably a 15-20 minute drive. •Closest to Pico is the Inn at Long Trail – McGrath’s Irish Pub. They have pretty decent irish food and a good crowd in winter at least. •Longtrail brewery – Long Trail brewery is about 20 minutes away (maybe a little more or less). It is a brewery along a river. It has some food and is really great to visit on a nice day. •If you like mountain biking – I would suggest taking a lesson from Snowshed lodge at Killington Mountain. More advanced riding can be found at K-1 and Ramshead. Also the mountain has a bunch of trails if you just want to hike around. I do not hike much in K, but I am sure a google search might come up with some nice trails in the area. •You can buy a lift ticket and take the gondola up to the peak. It has gorgeous views. I would definitely recommend it if you have never been. Depending on availability you can also take a sunset dinner there. •The Skye Ride – a two seat sort of line across the small river near snowshed. you get propelled from one side to the other. •Roller coaster – there is sort of a mini roller coaster at snowshed lodge. •Ropes course – if you like rope courses you would like this one at snowshed lodge although it isn’t very difficult, just fun. •There are Segway tours and atv tours at Snowshed lodge. I know other places in the area do ATV tours, but I don’t know specific names. •Also check up and see if there are any free concerts at snowshed. It takes place on Saturday afternoons most saturdays. •If you are in to rock climbing there is place in Rutland. I have not personally been inside, but I have heard good things. Ice Cream •Mad Hatter - If you like ice cream definitely check out Mad Hatter’s scoops. Great ice cream, cones, sundaes etc. Rutland •Rutland is a small town, it has a few cute shops but mostly it has a walmart, a supermarket, a dollar store and a movie theater. There is also a walgreens and CVS if for some reason you need that. The killington market on Killington road is the only real supermarket in killington but its expensive so I would suggest either bringing your own food or going to rutland.
