If you take a left out the front door, cross 13th, and take right when you get to 14th, you’ll find a small park with an asphalt path and a little creek and some cherry blossom trees.Today this is Rachel’s Walk, on the site of the old neighborhood pool.We take Scout (our dog) here a lot.

Tuesdays 4-7p (6 min walk) - At the intersection of 11th street and Hadley, in the church parking lot, there’s a sweet little market every Tuesday in the summertime. Get the sourdough bread!

A marina sports bar & family restaurant that sits right out on the lake. It’s always lively and fun. As Google says,“Local chain serving pizzas, burgers, BBQ, pub grub & more in a sports-bar atmosphere.” Get the chicken tenders, they are unreal. It’s a pretty walk along Riverside to get there (about 0.9 miles), but the sidewalk runs out for a stretch so be mindful of that.Wednesday night trivia! (2001 Lakeshore Dr—20 min walk) 615 357-0532

Just an 8 minute drive from us, the historical home of Andrew Jackson is a huge tourist draw. It’s worth the trip on a beautiful day. 4580 Rachel’s Ln—8 min drive

A hole in the wall in the strip mall with delicious sandwiches. A perfect weekend breakfast/brunch/lunch spot. Nothing touristy about this place. 3838 Old Hickory Blvd—5 min drive—615 847-4404. Closed Mondays

If you’re heading downtown,The Library Garage (151 6th Ave) is the best place to park for the best price. OR we sometimes park by Nissan Stadium and walk over pedestrian bridge.
