North Shore Food
I grew up on the North Shore and these are the iconic places to eat and to visit.
Growing up as a kid on the North Shore meant my reward for sitting still for a haircut was a Shave Ice. Not a bad deal. The barber shop is now Aoki's Shave Ice, right across the street. My favorite flavors are Li hing mui, Lilikoi and Lychee. Order with Ice Cream on the bottom!

The most famous shrimp truck on the North Shore, originally launched out of a converted bread truck more than 20 years ago. Now that's some staying power. Will it be garlic shrimp today drenched in butter, shrimp scampi, or perhaps we're feeling a little braver and will have the no refunds, hot and spicy shrimp plate!

Nothing could be better than shrimp just fished out of the fish ponds. A good choice if your on this side of the island visiting the Polynesian Cultural Center.

The best and most consistent coffee on the Islands. We start our day off with a Cappuccino or Latte from these guys every day. Delicious. They also have Acai bowls and smoothies as well.

North Shore Beaches
The best beaches along the North Shore.
Best beach ever! Parking is difficult, easier during the week when everyone else is at work. 40 foot waves in the Winter time at the surfing capital of the world with water as flat as glass during the Summer. Come for either reason depending upon when you're visiting. This was one of my favorite beaches growing up as it was within walking distance of our house and we spent many a day here on the wide sandy beach and jumping off the rock on the left as you face the ocean. Jump at your own risk and don't enter the water during the Winter.

This was one of my favorite beaches growing up as it was within walking distance of our house and we spent many a day here on the wide sandy beach and jumping off the rock on the left as you face the ocean. Jump at your own risk and don't enter the water during the Winter.
I haven't seen any sharks here but the tide pools and having a close up look at the sand crabs, and little fish is fun for the little ones. Snorkeling anyone?

Instead of fireworks at the end, you have a big well produced Hawaiian show in a giant amphitheater, preceded by a luau at a separate location. We take family members here when they are visiting, a great way to spend the day. Young children will be tired by the end of the day.
