"Mi Quang" is a must-try traditional dish when you visit Danang. The main ingredients of "mì quảng" are rice noodles, meat, and herbs, most commonly served with a small amount of broth, which is generally infused with turmeric. Meats used in the dish may include one or more of the following: shrimp (tôm), pork (thịt heo), chicken (gà), or even fish (cá) or beef (bò) and FROG (ếch). The broth is made by simmering the meat in water or bone broth for a more intense flavor, seasoned with fish sauce, black pepper, shallot, and garlic. Turmeric is often added to the broth, giving it a yellowish color. You may hear about some popular "Mi Quang" restaurants from the tourist books and websites. But believe me, none of them can beat this local bistro in both the price and the flavor. The symbol dish of this bistro is "Mi Quảng ếch" -Mì Quảng with the main protein is FROG meat. Yes, you read it correctly, you will be served FROG in this dish. The flavor is phenomenal, with a good balance between the rich flavor of Frog and the warmth from species, elevated by many kinds of herbs. The dish is served in a big tray with fresh vegetables, noodles and a cup of broth. The portion is large enough for two people if you only want to "try a little bit". The price for one portion is 35 000 VND, which is less than half of what you need to pay for a well-marketed restaurant for the same portion. If you don't want to eat FROG? Don't worry, the bistro offers Mì Quảng with many other kinds of protein. All are good at a very reasonable price. The menu is in English with the price is disclosed. The bistro is small and simple but clean. Most of the guests here are locals. It will be the place if you want to be away from full-of-tourist restaurants. What else I forgot to tell you? That is this bistro is VERY NEAR to ZORO HOME. Just 5 minutes walking and you can enjoy this symbol dish of the city. Good for breakfast, lunch and even dinner. Remember the name: Mì Quảng Hương Quê at 78 Phan Thanh street. Hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.
