In summer, a lovely terrace with playground for the children. To relax during your bike ride. You can also eat at the restaurant, reservation recommended. Traditional Dutch cuisine except that it really is nice prepared here. ; )

Fine spot to take a rest on your bicycle trip. There's a play garden for children, an outside terrace and a restauant where Dutch kitchen is being served [Reservation is recommended.]
Als so a good place to wander in the locely dunes [across the road, up the path]. You will encouter the typical Dutch costal landscape. Also challenging for children from 7 years old. Climbing trees.
Entrance fee is asked, only for adults.

Hoornse vaart, a canal with four [originaly six; Zeswielen = six wheels] typical Dutch windmills. In the fields near to these mills you will find the remnants of castle Middelburg.

Beautiful small chapel next to the ruins of the castle of Egmond. It was one of the largest castles in Holland but it was set to fire and destroyed in 1573 during and after the siege of Alkmaar by the duke of Alva from Spain. After the siege Alkmaar were afraid the Spanish would settle in the castle and remain a threat to the city.
Nowadays the ruins are - by own experience - a great spot for a picknick!
