Kritamon, or Fennel of the Sea, as the Romans called it, is a long forgotten Mediterranean plant with roots in Ancient Greece. It’s name was determined by the similarity of its seeds with barley. The superb ingredients used to create the menu of this restaurant are primarily from an Archanesian organic farm, along with beautiful herb garden. Every ingredient of Kritamon is produced or collected by its owners, family, or local farmers, shepherds, artisan cheese makers, fishers, vintners, olive oil producers, and many other neighbors that are dedicated and passionate about the high quality of their products. I love this restaurant because of its Chef's passion to share innovative creations using our island’s magnificent culinary treasures.

The most ancient winery of the world!!!! In an area where wine is produced now and in Minoan times. It is not a surprise, that archeologists found here a welpreserved winery. It gives a good idea, how the wine was made in those days. The same wine we still drink in the taverns on Crete. Made from the same grapes and produced at the same way as in the past.
The famous archeologist Spiridon Marinatos excavated the site in 1949/50. In the months September the local Cretans still press the grapes in the same way as the Minoans did!
