Food Scene

Great food with one of the best views of the lake. On the pricey side but the food is always fresh and high quality. Also a good place for drinks by the fireplace. Reservations recommended during the summer and winter.

This is a mom and pop restaurant that serves good ol' fashioned breakfast and lunch. It's our favorite place for brunch on a lazy Sunday morning.

Parks & Nature

One of the BEST views in Lake Tahoe and Emerald Bay. Worth the 35 minutes drive. Hike to the bottom and enjoy the great beach. Kayaking and paddle boats can be easily rentedin the summer. Take a short walk to the beautiful waterfalls. Be sure to get there early in the summer to avoid the crowds as the parking lot can get full quickly.

This is a smaller but more intimate beach. It's not as big or crowded as the other popular beaches. It feels like your own private beach.

Nice little beach in the middle of Tahoe City. We like to have lunch at one of the many restaurants in Tahoe City and then cross the street to relax at the beach. They have a nice playground for little ones who need to burn off some energy.

Lots of runs for all different types of skiers. Northstar also offers tubing and ice skating during the winter. During the summer, you can go mountain biking down the slopes. This resort also offers great shopping and restaurants. Northstar is a very popular resort, so get there early to avoid the traffic. It only takes 15 minutes to drive there, but during peaking season, you can wait up to 45 minutes just to get into the parking lot.

The is one of the most popular ski resorts in Tahoe. Lots of skiing and other winter activities like skating, tubing and snow shoeing. There's also plenty of shopping and restaurants. Be sure to get there early to avoid the crowds. If you get there too late, you can spend more time getting into the parking lot than driving to the entrance.

This is where the locals go for skiing as it's smaller and cheaper than the big resorts. It's nice not having to trudge through a huge village and take a shuttle back just to get to your car. The price of a lift ticket is very reasonable especially compared to the bigger resorts. The views of the lake, the intimacy of the resort and the great staff makes this a favorite. Food isn't great, so considering bringing your own.
