15 km from Machans, the best place to be in the heat, cold spring water with cascading falls throughout that you can sit in and play, BBQ gas undercover picnic area, seats, lovely road width flat walk alongside river goes for @1km with big waterfall at the end - stairs down to various water hole spots. If you cant make it to The Daintree then at least do this.

Sightseeing
The best part is the drive. Queensland version of the great ocean road. An hour drive, 60 km, you will want to stop. There is a lookout cliff that they hang glide off half way along. Theres a place where they pile up stones - Ill try get a pic. You can hire tractor tubes at Ports beach if your game. There's a beautiful church with a unique view and setting past the shops towards the yaught club (right) and a hidden little cove just past it (left).

Easy snorkelling that you can hire, i use a life jacket so I can rest way out as its too hard to paddle in fins.

Green Island Resort
A comfortable @ 45 min ride on Big Cat out. Has more 'fineties' and walks on nice paths. Really top class restaurant there (oysters, prawns - can be put in basket for beach) as well as others. Easy snorkelling that you can hire, i use a life jacket so I can rest way out as its too hard to paddle in fins.
Similar to Green, 'more 'relaxed', less people, more turtles as more sea grass. Has a inside restaurant and a seperate outside bar that sells basic, small menu, small shop for cold drinks. Can camp there.

Loads of shops/stalls, can get a triple pass to see the butterfly sancturary, bird sanctuary etc where you have butterflies and birds directly on you. The places close around 2pm. You can spend a whole day there. Drive up range, stop at The Lookout half way up.
