If you remember the Newhart show, this is it! The Waybury Inn was featured in the opening sequence of this show. Built in 1810, the Inn is thought to be one of the oldest operating accommodations in the State. Whether you eat in the dining room or the pub, it's a great place to experience the magic of an authentic Vermont Inn.

LOVE Almost Home. Great fresh baked scones, old fashioned drop donuts, GF options, fabulous sandwiches, gifts, kitchenware, WINE and best of all, gourmet take out when you don't want to eat out but you don't want to cook either. What makes this place special for me....every Wednesday morning a group of gals who call themselves The Coffee Mates meet. These ladies are young at heart and range from their 70s into their 90s. Their "meeting" consists of catching up with each other, celebrating and laughing at the meetings "minutes" which are mostly off color jokes they get from the internet. I love listening to their stories.

Really interesting hiking trails that celebrate the religions of the world. Check out their website for special events. One year we attended the Winter Solstice Ceremony and my kids have never forgotten the magic of that full moon night in the woods. Quotes along each path, a labyrinth and sacred circle are there for your quite meditation and contemplation.

Great hike up Vermont's 3rd highest peak at 4,083ft. It's featured on the State quarter. Please note that there are two trailheads—one in Duxbury and one in Huntington. Be sure you descend the correct trail or you may be on one side while your car is on the opposite side of the mountain. No matter which trail you choose to hike, the views are insanely gorgeous!

There aren't too many of these left, but Vermont is lucky enough to have some scattered about the state. And we are lucky enough to have one close by. If you want to visit an authentic country store, it's worth the drive to Ripton. They still used the old brass cash register, sit by the pot bellied stove and yep, folks still come to get their mail out of the tiny brass mail boxes in the corner. You can buy a neighbor's jar of pickles or a local artist's note cards.
