The word “atmospheric” doesn’t begin to describe Maison Premiere’s lush, straight-out-of-New Orleans backyard. Where better to spend a sultry summer night than seated at a wrought-iron table with lights twinkling overhead, a spread of ice-cold oysters on the table, and a sherry cobbler in hand? Here, the regularly-rotating cocktail menu is among the strongest in the city; recent highlights include the “Barber of Seville,” with rye, sherry, lemon, and orgeat, and the “Carondelet,” with Beefeater gin, citrus, blossom honey, and vanilla. The extensive Champagne list is icing on the cake.

Like a traditional Japanese ramen, this narrow, below-street-level noodle joint is designed for quick meals. Most seats are along a counter, behind which the chefs crisp pork slices with a propane torch and tend to bubbling stockpots. They serve arguably the best ramen in the entire city! Prospect Park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux after their completion of Manhattan's Central Park. Main attractions of the park include the 90-acre (36 ha) Long Meadow; the Picnic House; Litchfield Villa, the pre-existing home of Edwin Clark Litchfield, an early developer of the neighborhood and a former owner of a southern section of the Park; Prospect Park Zoo; a large nature conservancy managed by the Wildlife Conservation Society; The Boathouse, housing a visitors center and the first urban Audubon Center; Brooklyn's only lake, covering 60 acres (24 ha); the Prospect Park Bandshell that hosts free outdoor concerts in the summertime. The park also has sports facilities including seven baseball fields in the Long Meadow, and the Prospect Park Tennis Center, basketball courts, baseball fields, soccer fields, and the New York Pétanque Club in the Parade Ground. There is also a private Society of Friends cemetery on Quaker Hill near the ball fields, where actor Montgomery Clift is interred.

Fantastic and unique urban park built on elevated railroad tracks. Arrive there via c-train (8th ave line) to 34th and walk west to 11th Ave to access. Enjoy a leisurely walk the length of the park south to Gansevoort Street; So much to see and enjoy: history, architecture, NY-in-motion, view of the Hudson River, lush gardens, fun-food, New York's old and new! It's narrow and somewhat crowded at times, but well worth the energy and time.

Union Square Greenmarket is one of the very best places to shop for fresh produce in NYC. Local farmers sell fresh warm breads, honeys, vegetables and fruits, flowers and homemade jams and jellies. Open Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 8am - 6pm. Fall/Winter Christmas Market takes over and very beautiful.

Times Square is a major commercial intersection and neighborhood in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, at the junction of Broadway and Seventh Avenue, and stretching from West 42nd to West 47th Streets. You go there, buy tickets, sit at the bar before you line up to go in. Sit down and waiters take your food and drink orders and bring them to you while you watch the movie. Some new films are there, but always there are classics and offbeat films. They even do a brunch and a movie. Awesome spot. When you walk out, make a left or a right and you'll find bars, sushi spots, ramen, anything. Right and a left and you'll be on Bedford Avenue right in the heart of Williamsburg proper.

This is not your average bowling alley, in fact, bowling is just a pleasant aside to the awesome food and music with a decent sized dance floor. Think: nightclub meets restaurant meets bowling alley. Bonus: ?uestlove (The Roots / Jimmy Fallon fame) plays a resident DJ set on Thursdays.

Great small zoo right in Central Park. See the sea lions get fed and show off. Red pandas, polar bears, tropical birds and -- my favorites -- the snow monkeys. Family friendly with food court and restrooms.
