If you want to hear some traditional Scottish folk music, this is the place to go. A small pub, there's folk sessions going on everyday, so a good place to drop in if you are up in town

Sightseeing
Even if you don't visit the Castle, it's worth starting at the top of the Royal Mile and walking all the way down to Holyrood Palace at the bottom. As well as all the old buildings, you'll see the Scottish Parliament at the bottom and then you're ideally placed to walk through Holyrood Park

Close to the flat, it's a lovely place to take a wander around, and is free to enter. You can also pay for a ticket for the glasshouses where some of the more exotic plants are kept.

Where else can you climb a mountain (almost!) in the middle of a city?! A walk to the top of Edinburgh iconic volcanic plug is a must. The train is steep in places but only takes about 45 minutes to get to the top from Holyrood Palace or from the back of The Pleasance. You get amazing views of the city from the top

If you fancy a day away from the city, take a train to North Berwick and enjoy this quaint small town. It's got great cafes and shops and a fantastic seafood stall at the harbour. You can take a boat trip out round the Bass Rock and see the worlds largest gannet colony.
