This is a less-polished ski resort than Snowbasin, but still lots of fun with more acreage. Further from our house than Snowbasin, about a 40 minute drive.

A jewel of a ski resort. In summer, it's a great place for mountain biking, hiking and riding the gondolas up the mountain (glass bubble ski lift, $15 - $25 roundtrip, Saturdays and Sundays. Worth it for the views! Lodges sometimes open for food, drinks.

Good prices on food, plus a pharmacy, and it's just a few minutes down the mountain from our house on Skyline Drive off Washington Ave./I-89. But this is not a big walmart: it only has supermarket and pharmacy items.

This "park" has a beach: the Great Salt Lake, the saltiest water you've ever tried to swim in. There is sand along the beach, so bring an umbrella and a cooler. You also can see antelope and bison in the park.

A great hiking trail, not far from our house, but you might want to drive there (a few minutes' drive): It's at E. 4600 South in Ogden just off Ridgedale Drive. OR: many residents walk out their doors and just hike or run the streets in our neighborhood. You will see them! You can do the same!
