A local hang out for residents, faculty, staff, and studnets a like. I (Charles) have done a lot of my writing there - the staff and owner are great hosts. It's a great place for coffee, light lunches and a relaxing drink in the late afternoon.

UBC's world class museum of anthropology is well worth the visit. This is one of the leading research museums that works collaboratively with First Nations communities - having often set the standard for university/community partnerships. There is also a great little cafe in the museum that is well worth a stop for lunch or coffee break.

UBC's Botanical Garden is a short walk (5-10 minutes) from the studio. The Gardens include planets from all around the globe: from local BC types to plants from Asia, Africa and beyond. We often walk over for a quiet stroll and even, at times, a picnic.
