My favorite place for lunch, dinner, drinks and actually for breakfast too. Good food, amazing interior design, affordable and closed to my favorite museum "Micropia". It's close to Artis zoo, about 6 minutes from the house. For dinner in the weekend I would make a reservation.

The area used to be part of the Dutch Marines, is just open last year to the public. It has a lovely view over the Eastern Dock and a fire place.

If you are into beer the local beer brewery ‘Brouwerij 't IJ’ is a special treat. Its located in an old wind mill building has good selection of beer. The walk/bike there is magical if go through the ‘Entrepotdok’ neighborhood, where the ships hangers used to be, which is now a living area.

Notice: they have another location, in Noord (the north of the city). So if you see "location Noord" You have to take the ferry to the Eye. The ferry leaves behind Central station. It's quick, free and fun!

The only museum in the world for microorganism (is it an microorganism zoo?!) . You would never believe how many creatures are living with us in our body.
a tip: every hour the lab scientist come out of the lab to explain about the museum and microbes.

A Dutch designer, that has a studio-shop close to the Nieuwmarket. She has beautiful designed clothes that are also affordable. My whole wardrobe is from her shop!

For quick groceries we go to the "Spar" supermarket. Its small and a bit more expensive, but it's just across the street. You cross the big road in front of the house and it will be on the left side.

It's about 3 minutes walk. It has a wide variety of delicious products and a Shusi stand. Basically you go out of the house turn to the right and by the first cross road to the right again and there it is.

On Saturday’s there is a biological farmer's market on the Nieuwmarkt. My personal favorite spot for my weekly veggies. It has good quality of vegetables fruits and other bio-products for affordable price.

If you are staying more than a week I would buy a second hand bike, on Saturday on the Watelooplein. It’s on the right side of the square next to the coffeecompany. You can get a second hand bike for 60-80 euros.

It’s wilder than the Vondelpark, it has a ‘jenever’ distillery. Which is beautiful.

It's a park but it also has a lot of great cafes and restaurants. It used to be an industrial area and now it's all green and shinny.
